Working Whilst Travelling: 10 Digital Nomad Jobs for Au Pairs.

Let me guess, you’re still an au pair and you know for sure that after you finish your year you want to discover the world while traveling? Or maybe you’re back home for a while now and you feel like becoming  a digital nomad? Don’t worry, you are not alone. I felt the same way and that’s why I decided to create “Au Pairs Chronicles” 4 years ago and write my own novel about Au Pairs. I may not financially live from this project yet, but I won’t give up until I do and you need to understand that this is the key to success: “TO NEVER GIVE UP”.

Below you’ll find a list of jobs that will help you (for most of them) to become freelance and work from anywhere in the world, but bear in mind that these jobs will require some effort from you.

1) Stewardess/Flight Attendant for Emirates Airline

Most airline companies require hostesses to follow an airline cabin crew training before applying for the job, but with Emirates Company things are easier. All you need to do is to succeed the different job interviews and then Emirates will pay for your training sessions.  Their job interviews are not easy because there is a lot of competition, but if you are motivated enough and have good English speaking skills there is no reason why you shouldn’t succeed. Many au pairs and former travelers did, so why not you?
Plus, it would be a great opportunity to live in Dubai. I’ve been there twice and trust me, life is amazing there. It’s not for nothing that people claim Dubai to be the middle-east version of Vegas.

2) Globetrotter or Blogger

The good thing with this job is  that you can start to do it while you are an Au Pair. You can start by talking about your travels, post pictures on Instagram and write posts about your adventure. Gain enough followers and brands won’t hesitate before contacting you and pay you to represent them. This job is not easy, but if you are consistent and focused, I bet you could succeed in a year. Once again many did so why not you? If you are interested you can even write posts for my blog and I would be happy to help you gain some popularity…I know! I know! You’re welcome! LOOOOL

3) Translator

The best person required for this job is clearly an Au Pair. If your English is good you can clearly work as a freelance translator. As an au pair in English speaking countries, you gain more experience in speaking and writing in the English language so you’re bound to succeed as a translator. Check this website if you want to find a job in this area:
You just need to subscribe and…TADAHH!
Remember that it may not be easy at first to find clients, but don’t give up. Some people succeed to entirely live from it and have regular clients after 3 or 4 months.

4) Community Manager

Do you love Instagram, Facebook and other social networks? Do you have successful experiences of taking care of one or two social network companies? Don’t wait anymore do it as a living. If you don’t have any experience yet, you can do some volunteering for your favorite company, magazine, etc., and offer to take care of their social network for a little while in exchange of a reference and then I’m pretty sure you could find a job from this experience easily.
If you’re still an au pair or a traveler, it would be a great time to start now.
PS: From time to time I offer Au Pairs To take care of my Facebook page in exchange of a reference and promotion of your website and social networks. So if you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact me.

5) Editor

If you are passionate about language, writing, editing, and you have a great eye for detailthen this job is for you. Like the number 4 (translator) you‘ll find a list of websites for digital nomads.

6) Virtual Assistant

Do you like to help people? Are you familiar with office tools such as Microsoft Office? If that’s the case go for it. Many au pairs have carried out personal assistance tasks like taking care of the host family’s home or running personal errands, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t find a job easily. There is also the possibility that  you could still travel and live anywhere in the world.

7) Selling Stock Photos

As a traveler, I bet you have tons of incredible photos with incredible views so why not sell them? There are loads of websites where you could do it like Shutterstock, Flickr and Dreamstime.
You can also sell your photos to travel agencies.

8) Author

Are you a dreamer and like to tell stories? Do you have an imaginative mind? You could be a writer! Today you don’t need to find an editor or a publisher to do it as a living. Anna Todd is here to prove it. She gained success sharing her story on Wattpad and then found a publisher. If you don’t have a lot of people following you can still sell your book on Amazon. This is what I plan to do with my novel “Au Pairs Love Cupcakes.”
I have plans to publish it sometime next year. So if it’s your dream go for it and don’t give up even if it might take years to gain success.

9) English (or other language) Teacher

You may be a French, German or Spanish Au Pair. Many people in USA, Australia and England wish to discover a new language. Have you thought about teaching your language to them?
Or if you’re back home and you improved your English (almost bilingual which is possible) you should totally offer your services to people from your country. You could teach language to other people and help improve their English speaking skills. If you explain on your resume that you have spent a long time in USA or Australia while adopting another language, you have a higher advantage of becoming an English Teacher.

10) Affiliate Marketer

If you have a lot of friends on Facebook or a lot of followers, you should consider this option and follow an affiliate program. You could gain a percentage of money each time someone buys a product through your website or social networks.
