What has this post got to do with the life of an au pair? Nothing really, but to be honest I thought a lot of au pairs could relate to this topic. What happens to most girls when they become an au pair? GAIN WEIGHT!!! Eventually, it becomes tougher to lose all the excess weight gained. As some of you may be aware from my Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram account, I’ve lost 5 kilos in a just few weeks and let me tell you that it wouldn’t be possible if I didn’t know my body shape. When I tell my friends I motivate myself by watching video clips of famous singer, they all think I’m crazy. Then I have to explain to them that I’m not looking at random celebrities but just celebrities that have the same figure as me. When you become familiar with your body shape, looking at a healthier version of yourself becomes a pleasurable process. So before I begin, I would like to tell you that if you want to know what body type you are, you need to take a good look at the mirror with nothing but your underwear (close the door in case one of your host kids randomly enters your room!)
1)The 8 or the hourglass body shape: Your hips and your shoulders are the same size but your waist is narrow. You have a voluptuous body. This body shape is considered with the one below.
2)The X body shape: Your body is similar to the 8 or hourglass type (shoulders and hips the same size and a small waist) except that your body appears to be slimmer than the hourglass figure.
3) The triangle or the pear: Your bust and your waist are tiny but your hips are wide with that ‘WOW’ effect. Don’t need to go any further, you’re perfectly shaped like J. Lo who has often been described as having a body shape like a guitar, or also known as, “La Guitarra.” How cool is that, huh?
4) The straight body type; the rectangle or the letter ‘H’: Like the X and the 8, your hips and your shoulders are the same size except that you don’t have a well defined waistline. This body type is one of the most popular especially in countries like France.
5) The inverted triangle or the V shape: Your shoulders are larger than your hips and your waist is well defined. Usually athletic women like swimmers have this type of body.
6) The O shape: The O is given to voluptuous women like Adele or plus size women but I tend to disagree. Not every plus sized woman has a figure of the letter “‘O.” Some carry their curves differently. Anyway, I post this last one because I found it quite popular on internet even if if I’m not okay with the term “O body type.
If you search on the internet, you’ll find out that there are actually 12 different body types, so don’t worry if you don’t find yourself in one of these categories. I’m not even sure of my body type. Whether you fit in any one of these categories, or even if you don’t, it doesn’t mean you’re less than perfect. Remember that your body shape doesn’t define who you are. Women (and men) come in different shapes, sizes and color. Learning to love yourself and your body is the most important thing.
